BMW ART CAR 2022

Jeff Koons (1955) is a most prominent American visual artist whose work is dominated by the themes of banality and seduction. Koons’ merit lies in incorporating kitschy elements in ‘Art with the big K’. In a way his work can be mentioned in the same breath as that of late Andy Warhol. Koons’ work shows similarities with Pop Art, in that he takes elements from lower art and incorporates them into higher art.

His work is therefore placed in the category Neo-Pop Art. In Koons’s case, one speaks of über- kitsch; kitsch so strongly stimulated that it can no longer be enjoyed and that is exactly what he derives his artistry from. Koons was commissioned to design the BMW ART CAR 2022. This car can be seen for the first time at Art in Oisterwijk.
