Arian Blom

Corten steel

Arian Blom (1952) is a Dutch artist who mainly makes sculptures and wall objects. Iron in particular is the material Blom prefers to work with. And although the iron radiates power, he manages to elicit subtle poetry from it. The formal reduction of his more recent works is striking. Powerful columns emphasize a dynamic vertical. They are defined by curves generously flowing. These more than man-sized sculptures have their own metaphysical effect on the viewer, not least because of their monumental dimensions. They dominate the space almost like human figures. To seduce the visitor, the ‘Duo’ images have been given their place in our exhibition space as people. Arian Blom is a master of iron and trompe l’oeil effects.
