The Belgian artist Sofie Muller comes from a family of antique dealers. From an early age, she was spoon-fed with attention to craftsmanship, hence she developed her love for antique-art, and craft. ‘Jonas’ shows a boy locked in his suit, hanged by his collar on a nail against the wall. As such he also seems to be locked up in his inner world. ‘Jonas’ has no eyes, which makes the sense of dissociation even stronger.

Sofie Muller created this statue together with the Brandt and Clarysse statues, inspired by Ray Bradbury’s novel Fahrenheit 451. A book that describes a world in which it is forbidden to gain knowledge and critical thoughts are suppressed. A world of violence and destruction.
